Central to the festival are nine films competing for top honors, many of which are already generating buzz as potential Oscar contenders. Among the most prominent is Louis Clichy’s “Iron Boy,” a film that has already garnered significant acclaim, including the Un Certain Regard Special Jury Prize at Cannes and both the Jury Award and Audience Award at Annecy. Fresh from screenings at the Toronto and New York Film Festivals, "Iron Boy" arrives in Los Angeles with considerable momentum. Also competing is Leah Nelson’s “Tangles,” which made its premiere at Cannes, and “Julián,” the latest offering from Ireland’s acclaimed Cartoon Saloon, known for its distinctive visual style and compelling narratives.
The competition slate further includes a diverse international selection. "Jim Queen," a queer-themed favorite from Cannes and Annecy, is set to captivate audiences. The festival will also host the North American premiere of “Ghost — End of Night,” alongside Brazil’s unique hand-drawn feature “O Filho Da Puta (Son of a Bitch).” Rounding out the competitive films are “The Violinist,” an Annecy Cristal winner, and the intriguing titles “Viva Carmen!” and “Cherry and Virgin.”

Furthermore, Paramount’s 2026 hit, “Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender,” will receive a special theatrical presentation, allowing fans to experience the beloved franchise on the big screen. Cult classic aficionados will appreciate a screening of Yoshiaki Kawajiri’s 2000 masterpiece, “Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.” The festival will also offer a work-in-progress preview of Matt Braly’s anticipated project, “Clara and the Below,” giving a sneak peek into its development.
