Before you write

Popcorn Wire reports on film and television. Our articles are written by us; the images that accompany them generally come from the press material and feeds distributed by studios, festivals and trade publications, and are used in the context of news reporting. Reference data comes from open databases under their own licences.

We would rather credit you properly than remove your work. If the problem is a missing or wrong credit, say so — that is usually fixed the same day.

Sending a notice

Write to [email protected] with the subject line « Copyright notice », and include:

1. The exact address of the page on this site where the material appears. A link to the article, not a description of it.
2. Identification of the work you say is infringed, and where the original can be seen.
3. Your name, postal address and email address, and the capacity in which you act — owner, or authorised agent.
4. A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent or the law.
5. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and that you are authorised to act.
6. Your signature, electronic or physical.

What happens next

We aim to act on complete notices within a few working days. Where a claim is clear, we remove or replace the material first and discuss afterwards — nothing here is worth leaving a dispute open over. We keep a record of what was removed and why.

If we removed something of yours by mistake

Tell us. Send the page address, explain why the material was lawfully used, and give your contact details. If you are right, we restore it and say so.

Repeat infringement

Sources that repeatedly supply material we cannot lawfully publish are removed from our feeds. That is a decision we make about our own pipeline, and we make it without waiting to be asked twice.
