The newly released trailer, highlighted by The Hollywood Reporter, sets a tense atmosphere as sisters Charlotte (Meghann Fahy) and Samantha (Rose Byrne) Quinn find their lives irrevocably altered by a new act of violence in their quiet town of Pikeville. The narrative picks up two decades after a traumatic event fractured their family, forcing them to confront buried secrets and painful memories.
Charlotte, now a lawyer following in her father's footsteps, becomes a crucial witness to the latest attack. As the case unfolds, it's not just about solving a murder, but also about piecing together the broken fragments of their own past. The series promises an emotional journey exploring themes of survival, the intricate relationship between a father and his daughters, and the powerful, often complicated, connection between sisters.
Author Karin Slaughter, whose novel serves as the source material, is deeply involved in the Peacock adaptation, serving as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Slaughter expressed her excitement about the casting, stating, "Rose and Meghann perfectly captured the sister relationship — all the history, heartache and joy — wrapped inside this puzzle of a mystery."
The trailer features a warning from Brendan Gleeson, who ominously states, "There‘s more to the story than what you‘re hearing," hinting at the layers of deception and hidden truths awaiting discovery. Meghann Fahy's character also delivers a poignant line, suggesting the toll of concealment: "When you keep a secret, it can turn you into a person you don’t want to be."
In addition to Byrne and Fahy, the cast includes Olivia Williams, Harper Steele, Michael Dorman, Audrey Grace Marshall, and Drew Cheek. The series boasts an impressive executive producing team, with Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky, Casey Haver for Made Up Stories, and Rose Byrne herself among the executive producers. Steph Green also serves as an executive producer and director. Produced by Made Up Stories in partnership with Fifth Season, The Good Daughter consists of six episodes, all of which are set to premiere on Peacock on November 12.
