The news of the series' conclusion comes as the third season gears up for release, following a speedy renewal in March, just two months after its second season debuted on the streaming platform in January. The show, which has garnered a strong following for its unique premise and comedic heart, will offer fans a final look into the world of Charles Nieuwendyk.

Series creator Mike Schur, known for his work on beloved comedies like Parks and Recreation and The Good Place, reflected on the journey of the show's lead character in comments to Variety. "This series began with a retiree taking a chance at a new life... Charles Nieuwendyk made his world bigger and proved that life only slows down if you let it," Schur shared. He added, expressing gratitude for the show's star, "We are thrilled to be able to conclude his journey with one final chapter, as embodied by the great Ted Danson, who I am legally required to refer to as a ‘National Treasure.’"

Danson returns as Charles Nieuwendyk, leading a stellar ensemble that includes Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Lilah Richcreek Estrada, Stephanie Beatriz, Eugene Cordero, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Sally Struthers, and Mary Steenburgen. The final season also boasts an impressive lineup of guest stars, adding fresh faces to the already strong cast.

Eight new actors are joining the fray for Season 3: Annette O’Toole (Virgin River), Bernadette Peters (The Good Fight), Christopher McDonald (Hacks), Diedrich Bader (Lucky Hank), Jessica St. Clair (Space Force), Nick Offerman (The Last of Us), Rachel Dratch (Saturday Night Live), and Stephen Root (Barry). These additions hint at exciting new plot developments, with Peters playing Coco Van Beck, a San Francisco socialite who hires Charles to investigate sabotage, and Root portraying Dave, Charles's estranged brother, who arrives with old scores to settle. Offerman's character, Jack Spencer, is described as one of Coco's employees who takes a special interest in Charles’s investigation, suggesting he might become an ally or an obstacle.

'A Man on the Inside' draws its inspiration from the acclaimed documentary The Mole Agent.
