Paramount+'s hit series Landman, a cornerstone of Taylor Sheridan's growing television empire, has officially announced a key new player for its upcoming third season. Acclaimed actor Michael Kelly, known for his roles in House of Cards and his previous collaboration with Sheridan on Lioness, will join the cast as a series regular.

Kelly is set to portray William Crockett, described as the formidable leader of the world's largest oil management firm. His character is presented as a titan of industry, embodying efficiency and wealth, and is expected to fill a significant narrative void left by the exit of Jon Hamm's character, Monty Miller, who met his demise at the end of Season 1. While not a direct replacement for Miller, Crockett's introduction signals a new direction for the series' power dynamics and central conflicts.

Landman, which debuted in late 2024 and quickly returned for a second season, follows Billy Bob Thornton's character, Tommy, in the high-stakes world of West Texas oil. Season 3 is anticipated to see Tommy venturing into new territory, having left M-Tex Oil to establish his own company alongside his son and father. This shift promises fresh challenges and opportunities for the series' ensemble.

The news, as reported by Collider, also sheds light on the financial aspects of the show's returning cast. While many of his Landman co-stars, including Ali Larter, are receiving pay raises for the third season, lead actor Billy Bob Thornton is not. This is attributed to his existing three-season deal for the series. Should Landman be renewed for a fourth season, Thornton would then be in line for a substantial pay bump.

Fans will have to exercise patience, however, as Landman Season 3 is not expected to premiere until 2027. Production delays have pushed back the return of the series, giving viewers ample time to re-watch the first two seasons, currently available on Paramount+, and anticipate the new narrative threads Michael Kelly's character will undoubtedly weave into the intricate world of oil and power.
