Fans of Batman certainly need patience. In 2022, Matt Reeves' The Batman not only garnered excellent box office returns ($772.7 million on a $200 million budget) but also largely earned critical acclaim (72% on Metacritic). After such widespread approval, Hollywood typically strikes while the iron is hot. However, the sequel has been postponed multiple times. As a result, we won't see The Batman Part II until February 16, 2028 (barring further date changes).

Aficionados have found some reassurance recently. After a long period of waiting, filming for the movie finally began in the summer of 2026 and is expected to conclude by the end of the year. This has also provided an opportunity to learn a bit more about what The Batman Part II will be like. Following numerous, much-discussed casting announcements, it's now Robert "Bruce Wayne" Pattinson's turn to reveal some details about the eagerly awaited sequel.

THAT’S BATMAN

Interviewed by MyMovies, Robert Pattinson discussed the The Batman sequel, which is currently filming. While he didn't reveal any plot details, he assured that there would be significant changes:

"Matt has just written an incredible script. I think it's difficult to reinvent Batman to make something new. And I believe the first one succeeded in doing that. So, to go in yet another direction! Just by looking at the video feedback from certain sequences, you can clearly see that the approach differs from that of the first film. It's simply brilliant. The script marks a fairly radical change. And it's great that Warner and DC are supporting the project. Frankly, it's crazy. It's a truly radical reinterpretation of this moment. I think the audience is going to be thrilled."

While it's still difficult to know exactly what this change will entail, the actor, also currently starring in L'Odyssée, promises something that is, on the surface, surprising. Will it concern his character? Or the universe depicted? A well-known adventure of the Caped Crusader (Pattinson speaks of a reinterpretation of a "moment")? From his words, novelty is to be expected as much from the script written by Matt Reeves as from the direction.

We recall that between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, the city of Gotham depicted by Christopher Nolan changed significantly, moving from a rather comic-book aesthetic to a realism deeply rooted in the contemporary world. Visually, the change might be of the same nature, even if it's difficult to imagine Matt Reeves completely abandoning his vision of Batman's city, which pushed gothic aesthetics to their limits.

In any case, what sounds like another risk-taking move from Matt Reeves can only make us more eager to cast our eyes on the sequel to The Batman... and makes us even more impatient given the wait ahead. The Batman Part II will be released on February 16, 2028, in France.
