Another Netflix series has fallen victim to the 'season 2 curse.' In recent months, many of the platform's programs have experienced significant drops in viewership, with figures plummeting by over 40%. This trend has affected flagship series like Avatar: The Last Airbender and, more recently, The Gentlemen.

This is also the case for Nouvelle vie à Ransom Canyon, which has just been canceled. Sometimes dubbed Netflix's Yellowstone, the series is a romance full of mysteries and twists set in a Western universe. The cast notably includes Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly in the main roles.

Season 1 wasn't a triumph but gathered enough viewers to justify a renewal. However, the second season was produced with a reduced budget, leading to fewer episodes (eight episodes compared to ten for season 1) and casting changes.

Unfortunately, these efforts were not enough. In its first week, Season 2 showed a 43% drop in viewership, garnering only 7.2 million views. These figures unfortunately sealed the program's fate, leading to its official cancellation by Netflix, meaning it will not return for a third season.

Was it in anticipation of this highly probable cancellation that the second season didn't end with a cliffhanger but rather a semblance of plot resolution? All efforts appear to have been made to provide a fitting conclusion to the series, despite plotlines that hinted at a season 3 but will now never come to fruition.
