The Marvel Television and Marvel Animation panel, a highlight of NYCC 2026, was hosted by Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum and featured a roster of special guests, offering a comprehensive look at upcoming Disney+ series. Our colleagues at /Film provided live coverage, capturing every major moment as it unfolded.
The animated side of Marvel received substantial attention, kicking off with news on 'Marvel Zombies.' The series is set to deliver an annual special for the next three years, with 'The Winter Soldier' slated for 2027, 'The Fist of Khonshu' for 2028, and 'The Last Guardian' for 2029.
Following this, an exclusive clip from 'X-Men '97' showcased intense mutant/racial metaphors, fraught border crossings, and Sentinel action, culminating in what was described as a 'Rogue-ish wedding.' The footage promised a season rich with the thematic depth fans expect from the X-Men.
'Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2' also swung into the spotlight, with an exclusive clip depicting Spider-Man interrupting a heated exchange between Doc Ock and Norman Osborn. The sequence featured Spidey saving Harry from a skyscraper and ended with a surprise Venom reveal. Marvel Studios officially announced a release date of January 13, 2027, for the second season.

Shifting to live-action, the panel welcomed 'Daredevil: Born Again' stars Charlie Cox and Krysten Ritter to the stage. The announcement of Season 3 being the final installment drew audible boos from the crowd, to which Cox quipped, "I imagine the Save Daredevil campaign will be gearing up for Round 2." Attendees were treated to an exclusive teaser, revealing the assembly of Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Danny Rand, with Matt Murdock still incarcerated. The footage also confirmed the return of Bullseye and Wilson Fisk, promising a 'gnarly prison fight' and a significant step up from previous seasons.

One of the most anticipated reveals was for 'VisionQuest.' Paul Bettany (Vision) and James Spader, reprising his role as Ultron, graced the stage. Spader succinctly described his return to the MCU as "Fun!" An exclusive trailer for the series featured mindscape sequences, robots in human bodies, and teases of Vision's mission to save his children. The panel culminated in the premiere of the entire first episode for the NYCC audience, which was characterized as a "quirky lovechild of WandaVision and both seasons of Loki: introspective and heartfelt and self-referential, but without getting TOO bogged down in the MCU of it all." Early reactions suggested the show would resonate particularly with "Age of Ultron defenders."

Finally, Marvel teased a new live-action spy thriller series titled 'Zodiac,' revealing its logo and confirming that filming is slated to begin in London next spring.

The panel, while not diving into major film announcements like 'Avengers: Doomsday' or 'Secret Wars,' solidified Marvel Television's strong position with its upcoming Disney+ lineup, ensuring that the small screen continues to play a vital role in the expansive Marvel Cinematic Universe.
