Paul Feig, known for his work on 'Bridesmaids' and 'Ghostbusters,' is eyeing a return to the action genre. Following the upcoming production of 'The Housemaid's Secret,' Feig could step into the director's chair for a continuation of 'The Italian Job,' the star-studded remake from 2003.

The original 2003 film, directed by F. Gary Gray, boasted an impressive ensemble cast including Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Edward Norton, and Jason Statham. It served as a modern reimagining of the classic 1969 British film of the same name, which starred Michael Caine.

'The Italian Job' (2003) captivated audiences with its thrilling premise: after a spectacular heist in Venice, a team of expert thieves is betrayed by one of their own. A year later, they partner with a sharp young computer expert to reclaim their stolen gold and exact their revenge.

The film was a commercial success, grossing $176 million worldwide at the box office. While the prospect of a sequel is exciting, it remains unclear whether the original cast members will reprise their roles for this new installment.

Beyond 'The Housemaid's Secret,' Paul Feig is also attached to direct 'Detention,' a horror film penned by Daniel Gold and produced by Blumhouse/Atomic Monster, the powerhouse companies founded by Jason Blum and James Wan.

Feig is set to begin filming 'The Housemaid's Secret' this autumn. The thriller, adapted from Freida McFadden's novel, will feature a cast including Sydney Sweeney, Michele Morrone, Kirsten Dunst, Brittany Snow, Paul Anthony Kelly, and Stephen Kalyn, with a theatrical release anticipated for December 15, 2027.
