Jeremy Zag was recently celebrated as Deadline’s 2026 French TV Disruptor at Unifrance’s Rendez-Vous market, an accolade recognizing his profound impact on creating animated series and films that resonate worldwide. Speaking from the historic Montivilliers Abbey in Normandy, France, Zag articulated his philosophy of building expansive universes, a strategy evident in Miraculous and other projects.
“I really believe in the power of a brand, and I believe that from a little drawing, you can create a giant franchise,” Zag stated, emphasizing his commitment to developing entire worlds that span TV, film, games, and merchandise. His move to Los Angeles was pivotal in transforming Miraculous into a global powerhouse, blending U.S. superhero narrative traditions with astute American business strategies to forge a rich tapestry of characters. The Zag team is actively developing new superheroes to join Ladybug, and Zag excitingly teased an upcoming live-action Miraculous series.
“We’re going to keep the DNA of what people love about Miraculous,” Zag affirmed regarding the live-action adaptation. “We are moving forward now. The team is here, the producers are here, the writers are here.”

Turning to Melody, his animated feature film collaboration with Katy Perry, Zag confirmed that the project is progressing steadily. “Katy is very involved in the movie; she’s playing a main character, she’s working on the songs, and she’s also working on the story,” he revealed. The team is further bolstered by the involvement of Gary Trousdale, co-director of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, bringing acclaimed animation expertise to the production. Zag described Melody as a story centered on self-belief: “It’s about believing in yourself. It’s a little girl who wants to sing, but she doesn’t believe in herself.”
Zag’s ultimate vision extends to creating a lasting animation legacy. “My dream is to leave behind me some franchises that will help the new generation to believe in themselves… and obviously to create crossovers between them all,” he shared, culminating in the grand ambition to “create a Zag World.”
