Zhang's character, Melanie, first appeared in the third episode of season 3 and has since been featured in 15 episodes. Her promotion suggests that Tracker is keen to flesh out the world surrounding Justin Hartley's character, Colter Shaw, particularly focusing on Reenie's professional and personal life. Melanie has often been depicted as not only an efficient assistant but also as someone who encourages Reenie to cultivate a more balanced personal life, potentially hinting at a rekindling of the long-simmering romantic tension between Reenie and Colter.

This move comes as Tracker continues to evolve its supporting cast.
