Sources have confirmed to Popcorn Wire that Asa Germann, fresh off his performance in Prime Video's superhero series Gen V, is set to portray Angel in Marvel Studios' new X-Men movie. Germann was previously rumored for the role of Cyclops, which ultimately went to Kit Connor. Marvel representatives were unavailable for comment regarding the casting.

Angel, whose civilian name is Warren Worthington III, is a foundational character in the X-Men universe. Co-created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, he first appeared in X-Men in 1964. Born with impressive feathered wings enabling flight, Angel initially concealed his mutation before becoming one of Professor Xavier's earliest recruits. Comic book lore sees his wings later tragically replaced by metallic ones by the villain Apocalypse, transforming him into the darker Archangel.

The new X-Men film has become one of the most keenly observed projects in terms of casting this year. Helmed by Jake Schreier, known for his work on Thunderbolts* and Beef, the film's ensemble expanded significantly with recent announcements at D23. Disney confirmed Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Adam Driver as the villain Mr. Sinister, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Maya Boyd as Storm. Furthermore, Sadie Sink was already introduced as Jean Grey in this summer's blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
