In an ideal world, Dexter Morgan would have met his end in 2021, at the conclusion of the Dexter: New Blood revival, which largely corrected the widely criticized finale of the main series in 2013. In a perfect world, the series would have concluded much earlier, perhaps after its acclaimed fourth season, widely considered the peak of James Manos Jr.'s adaptation.

However, the world is as it is, and so Michael C. Hall's methodical assassin continues his deadly pursuits. After a prequel titled Dexter: Original Sin, which dove into the protagonist's past, and now the continuation of the continuation, Dexter: Resurrection, spearheaded by Clyde Phillips, the franchise endures. While the prequel's dive into Dexter's origins proved less convincing, Resurrection managed to rekindle interest with its outlandish yet entertaining premise involving a private club of serial killers. Although Original Sin will not receive a second season, Jeff Lindsay's iconic character is set to hunt again in Resurrection's second season.

Guess Who's Back, Back Again

Promotion for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 is ramping up. Following a series of images that offered some clues about what's to come, Paramount+ has now unveiled its first teaser. The preview doesn't reveal much new plot information, but it promises that Dexter will return "fitter than ever" – perhaps after a visit to the optometrist, as vision can indeed decline in one's forties.

Dexter: Resurrection Season 2: Images and Clues for the Return of the Serial Killer

Regarding the cast, alongside Michael C. Hall, James Remar, and Jack Alcott, the series will see the return of several characters from Season 1, including Uma Thurman as Charley, Kadia Saraf as Claudette Wallace, Dominic Fumusa as Melvin Oliva, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Kamara, and Desmond Harrington, who was briefly glimpsed as Quinn in the first season.

The new season will also introduce several new killers, whose files Dexter acquired from Leon Prater at the end of the first season. Gabriel Luna will portray Ray Ballard, also known as "The Sleepy-Eyed Stranger," while Dan Stevens will step into the shoes of "The Five Borough Killer." Veteran actor Brian Cox will join the cast as "The New York Ripper," a character mentioned multiple times in Season 1, who is set to be the primary antagonist of this upcoming second season.

Crucially, the Paramount+ teaser also serves to announce the official release date: October 30th, exclusively on Paramount+.
