The vibrant atmosphere of New York Comic Con recently saw Charlie Cox, the beloved star of Marvel's 'Daredevil' series, address the surprising news of 'Daredevil: Born Again's cancellation. While on a panel with his co-stars, teasing the third and now final season of the Disney+ show, the moderator brought up the impending conclusion, prompting Cox to playfully feign ignorance.
“Wait, what?” the Matt Murdock actor quipped, drawing a chorus of mock boos from the disappointed but engaged audience. Cox then quickly pivoted, acknowledging the powerful fan movement that has historically fought for the series' survival. “All I’ll the say is, I imagine the ‘Save Daredevil’ campaign will be gearing up for round two. Listen, we don’t want to invite the wrath of the ‘Save Daredevil’ people,” he added, a clear nod of support to the passionate community.
The 'Save Daredevil' campaign first gained significant traction in 2018 after Netflix cancelled the original 'Daredevil' series following its critically acclaimed three-season run. The fan-driven effort proved successful, eventually leading to the revival of the character and many of the original cast members in 'Daredevil: Born Again' on Disney+. The new series saw Cox reprise his role as the blind vigilante, Matt Murdock, alongside familiar faces like Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk (Kingpin), Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, and Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson.
Deadline confirmed last month that 'Daredevil: Born Again' would conclude after its third season, which has already wrapped production and is slated for a 2027 premiere. Despite the cancellation, the final season promises a significant treat for long-time fans, including a Defenders reunion with confirmed cameos from Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, and Finn Jones as Danny Rand/Iron Fist. Cox's recent remarks at NYCC suggest that while the current iteration might be ending, the fight for Daredevil's future on screen is far from over, once again emboldening the 'Save Daredevil' movement to push for yet another revival.
