The series, which follows the unconventional attorney Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston) as she assists the NYPD in solving intricate cases, is known for its clever mysteries and charming lead. The addition of these esteemed performers signals a continued commitment to high-caliber guest and recurring roles.

Christine Ebersole, a two-time Tony Award winner known for her work in "Grey Gardens" and "42nd Street," will take on a recurring role as Elsbeth's mother. Her character is described as someone capable of charming almost anyone, a trait that seemingly doesn't extend to her own quick-witted daughter, setting the stage for potentially humorous and insightful family dynamics. Ebersole's extensive career also includes appearances in films like "The Wolf of Wall Street" and television series such as "Bob Hearts Abishola."

Joining as a guest star is Uzo Aduba, acclaimed for her Emmy-winning portrayal of Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren in "Orange Is the New Black" and her Emmy-winning turn as Shirley Chisholm in "Mrs. America." Aduba will play Allegra Miller, a proud New Yorker embroiled in a battle against developers to protect her home and, in doing so, redefine her life. Her character's storyline promises to bring a compelling, socially relevant narrative to the procedural.

Six-time Emmy Award winner and Tony recipient Tyne Daly will also guest star, portraying Helen Adler. Adler is characterized as a dedicated birder unafraid to ruffle feathers when her beloved flock is threatened. Daly, an inductee into the American Theatre Hall of Fame, is perhaps best recognized for her iconic role as Detective Mary Beth Lacey in the groundbreaking CBS series "Cagney & Lacey," making her return to the network a noteworthy event.

"Elsbeth," which spun off from the critically acclaimed "The Good Wife" and "The Good Fight," continues to build on its rich universe. Carrie Preston reprises her role as the titular character, whose unique observational skills and charming eccentricity have made her a fan favorite.

The fourth season of "Elsbeth" is slated to premiere on CBS on Thursday, October 8, with new episodes airing weekly. The series is produced by CBS Studios, with Robert King, Michelle King, Jonathan Tolins, and Liz Glotzer among the executive producers guiding its creative direction.
