In an interview with Popcorn Wire's colleagues at TV Insider, Stallone disclosed that he has written a new chapter in Rocky's saga. However, fans eager for a seventh 'Rocky' film might need to temper their expectations, as the actor-director, who recently celebrated his 80th birthday, stated this particular story is not currently intended for the big screen.

Stallone detailed the premise of his new narrative, explaining it would delve into Rocky's life away from the boxing ring. "I think it would be a good opportunity to explore his life outside the ring, the evolution of the world around him, the transformation of his neighborhood, and his involvement with the less fortunate," Stallone shared. He clarified that he wrote the story primarily for himself, expressing doubt about its broad appeal as a feature film: "I don't know if that would really interest the general public. So, I wrote it for myself."

Despite this, Stallone remains deeply connected to the 'Rocky' universe and hinted at other potential projects. He expressed enthusiasm for exploring the earlier lives of his characters and their intertwined paths, specifically mentioning the 1960s as a rich historical backdrop for such a narrative. "I have plenty of ideas about how their paths crossed," he said, suggesting a prequel concept could be fertile ground. "I would therefore love to embark on that project."

Stallone underscored the enduring cultural significance of his most famous creation. "Rocky Balboa is one of the greatest film characters ever created: an outsider with whom almost everyone can identify in one way or another," he asserted. This sentiment resonates strongly as 2026 marks both the 50th anniversary of the original 'Rocky' film's release and the debut of 'I Play Rocky,' a biopic directed by Peter Farrelly and starring Anthony Ippolito, which chronicles Stallone's journey to bring the underdog boxer to the screen. While a new 'Rocky' film focusing on Balboa's later years isn't on the immediate horizon, Stallone's continued creative engagement ensures the spirit of the 'Italian Stallion' remains vibrant.
