For many, Stargate Universe represented a significant departure from the established formula of its predecessors, Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. Premiering in 2009, the series adopted a darker, more serialized narrative, focusing on a group of strangers stranded aboard an ancient, deteriorating ship far from home. This shift in tone, coupled with a cast of morally ambiguous characters, proved contentious among longtime Stargate enthusiasts, ultimately leading to its cancellation by Syfy after just two seasons in 2011.

Despite its divisive run, Stargate Universe cultivated a dedicated fanbase, largely due to its ambitious storytelling and, crucially, the central role of the Destiny itself. The ship, with its mysterious origins, failing systems, and endless journey through uncharted galaxies, became almost a character in its own right, driving much of the show's atmosphere and plot. Now, 15 years after its abrupt end, the Destiny is returning in a new form.

BlueBrixx, known for its extensive collection of officially licensed Stargate models, has unveiled an impressive replica of the Destiny. This set, part of their BlueBrixx-Pro collection, comprises 859 pieces and, once assembled, measures approximately 45.3 cm long, 30.4 cm wide, and 11.4 cm tall. Priced at €59.95 (roughly $70 USD), the model faithfully captures the vessel's distinctive elongated silhouette and intricate Ancient architecture, making it a compelling collectible for fans aged 14 and older.

As described by BlueBrixx, "This BlueBrixx model recreates the enormous Ancient exploration vessel that serves as the central setting of Stargate Universe. Destiny was launched on an automated mission long before the events of the series and continues to follow its programmed course through distant galaxies." This detailed recreation allows fans to connect with the ship that served as an involuntary home for its crew, far beyond the reaches of familiar space.

In addition to the Destiny, BlueBrixx is also releasing a companion Seed Ship model. These smaller, unmanned Ancient vessels played a crucial role in the Stargate lore, traveling ahead of the Destiny to establish Stargate networks on distant planets. The Seed Ship model consists of 215 pieces and will be available for €19.95.

While neither model currently has a confirmed release date, both are listed as "Coming Soon" on the official BlueBrixx website. Enthusiasts can sign up for email notifications to be alerted when pre-orders become available. For a series that left its audience hanging with an unresolved cliffhanger, these new, officially licensed collectibles offer a unique opportunity to revisit one of the Stargate franchise's most ambitious, if imperfect, narratives.
