While the future of The Mandalorian remains a topic of much speculation, one of its prominent stars, Katee Sackhoff, is openly advocating for a solo venture for her character, Bo-Katan Kryze. Sackhoff, a veteran of science fiction with roles in Battlestar Galactica and Riddick, first lent her voice to Bo-Katan in the animated series The Clone Wars. This portrayal introduced fans to the sister of Duchess Satine, ruler of Mandalore, and her tumultuous journey through insurgency and conflict. Sackhoff later reprised the role in Rebels and made her live-action debut as Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian, where the character allied with Din Djarin to reclaim their homeworld.

At a recent panel during Tampa Bay Comic Con, hosted by Collider's Maggie Lovitt, Sackhoff discussed her spin-off aspirations. She clarified that her interest lies not in a continuation of Bo-Katan's post-*Mandalorian* arc, but rather a prequel exploring her earlier life and the dynamic with her sister, Satine. Sackhoff believes this story would best be told through animation, rather than live-action:

"...so I've always wanted to see what that life was like for them growing up, and who Bo was when she was little...I always saw her as like this spitfire, like this kid who just ran around and did whatever she wanted because nobody paid attention to her because all the focus was on her sister, and I just really want to see that...I think animation would be a beautiful way to be able to see that story play out."

For fans eager to see this animated prequel come to fruition, Sackhoff playfully suggested they might need to 'stalk' Dave Filoni, the Star Wars head honcho who originally created Bo-Katan for The Clone Wars.

What Star Wars Animated Projects Are in the Works?

Coincidentally, the Star Wars animation slate continues to expand. Lego Star Wars: The Mandalorian, a humorous animated retelling of the live-action series, recently premiered, featuring Sackhoff once again as Bo-Katan. Looking ahead, the second season of Maul: Shadow Lord, which chronicles the former Sith Lord's criminal empire-building, is slated for next year.
