Finecut's sales success is anchored by "Nowhere to Lay My Eyes," the 35th feature from acclaimed director Hong Sangsoo. The film garnered significant attention at the 79th Locarno Film Festival, where it secured three prestigious awards: the Pardo for Best Direction, the Pardo for Best Performance, and the Ecumenical Jury Prize. Finecut has successfully placed the film with distributors across the globe, including Cinema Guild for North America, Institute of Contemporary Arts for the U.K., Atalante for Spain, Hugoeast for China, Filmgarten for Austria, and Cola Films for Taiwan. The film tells the poignant story of a woman reuniting with her mother after a decade, spending two days with her mother's new family alongside her brother.

Finecut's slate also features "Long Long Night," a 3D animated feature marking the directorial debut of Youm Kyu Bock. This highly anticipated film has already been pre-sold to Japan's Geek Pictures Inc. even before its world premiere in the Centrepiece selection at Toronto. Following its Toronto debut, "Long Long Night" will head to the Busan International Film Festival's competition lineup and later compete in the Anima’t section at the Sitges Film Festival. Based on a bestselling Korean novel that has sold over 800,000 copies and was recognized on the International Youth Library’s 2021 White Ravens list, the film has already captivated buyers. Kosano Tamotsu, CEO of Geek Pictures Inc., expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Even from just the 15-minute promo footage, we were deeply moved by the beauty of the film and the way it captures the world of the original story, by the endearing bond between the last rhino on Earth and a penguin, and by the kindness and strength that come through in its message of living for someone else. We immediately felt that this was a film we wanted to bring to audiences in Japan."

Completing this trio of successful deals is "Dora," the third feature from director July Jung. The film premiered to acclaim in the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes and has been selected for the Gala presentation lineup at the Busan International Film Festival. Finecut has secured distribution deals for "Dora" in Japan with Geek Pictures Inc. and in Taiwan with Light Year Images. Notably, Jung holds the distinction of being the first Korean female director to have three consecutive features selected for Cannes. "Dora" stars rising Korean actress Kim Doyeon in the title role alongside Japanese actress Ando Sakura, known for her performances in films like "Godzilla Minus One," "Monster," and the Palme d’Or winner "Shoplifters."

During the Toronto Film Festival, Finecut plans to unveil two more intriguing projects: "Guardians of the Video Game," an animated adventure based on a popular webtoon boasting 345 million views worldwide, and "Wash Away," a Japanese horror-thriller. "Wash Away," the feature debut of director Miyahara (whose short film "Suck" was selected for Clermont-Ferrand), explores a sinister lakeside retreat where a couple confronts a resort's belief that its waters can cleanse the soul. It will premiere in the Sitges Film Festival’s Panorama section.
