Known for her compelling performances in major science fiction franchises and critically lauded television series, Rebecca Ferguson is set to explore new territory in the romantic comedy Honeymoon/Funeral. The film, which is presently shooting in London, has recently bolstered its ensemble with the casting of Carrie Coon, an actress widely recognized for her impactful roles across HBO's prestigious lineup.

Honeymoon/Funeral pairs Ferguson with Past Lives star Greta Lee. The story centers on two women whose paths unexpectedly converge: Lee's character is embarking on a solo honeymoon after being left at the altar, while Ferguson's character is returning home for her mother's funeral. Their chance encounter on a flight from Los Angeles to London blossoms into a week-long shared experience. The film's existence was initially rumored after the two leads were spotted filming in London, with official confirmation arriving last week.

Deadline now reports that Carrie Coon will join the cast as Sarah, the fiancée responsible for jilting Lee's character at the altar. Coon, a distinguished theater performer who made her film debut in 2014's Gone Girl, has established herself as a prominent figure on HBO with memorable roles in series like The Leftovers and The White Lotus. This fall, she is slated to return as the ambitious Bertha Russell in the fourth season of The Gilded Age. Additionally, this winter will see Coon starring in the drama The Liberation as a Holocaust survivor who abandons her family to join a cult commune, a performance that has already garnered rave reviews following its premiere at the Telluride Film Festival earlier this month.

Behind the camera, Honeymoon/Funeral is directed by Nahnatchka Khan, a seasoned producer and creator known for TV series such as Fresh Off the Boat and Young Rock. This marks Khan's third feature film as director, following Always Be My Maybe and Totally Killer. The screenplay is penned by Khan's wife, Julia Bicknell, a writer and producer for The Midnight Club and Yellowjackouts, making this her debut feature script. Khan and Jennifer Carreras are producing the film through their Fierce Baby production company, alongside Bicknell. FilmNation is set to present the project at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival.
