In an era where every past success is resurrected to create new films and series, it was no surprise to learn that Prison Break would be returning. The only problem was that Wentworth Miller had been very clear: he would never reprise his role as Michael Scofield. Instead of a direct sequel, Disney (which now owns the Prison Break brand after acquiring Fox) opted to relaunch a new series, reportedly without any connection to the original season's characters.

For lack of a better word, we'll call it a reboot, but it seems (for now) that Elgin James' (The Outlaws) upcoming series won't retain much of Prison Break beyond its setting, similar stakes, and, most importantly, its marketable title. Since 2025, we've known that the main roles would be held by Emily Browning (Sucker Punch), Lukas Gage (Smile 2), Drake Rodger (The Winchesters), and that Kelli Berglund (How to Build a Better Boy) and Georgie Flores (Famous in Love) would also be part of the cast. We have now learned the actors who will complete this ensemble.

We've learned via Deadline that the following names will join the adventure, all already attached to their respective roles:

  • Noah Emmerich (The Americans, Dark Winds) will play Callum Faulls, Jackson's father (Lukas Gage) and a highly respected influential figure in West Virginia.
  • Catfish Jean (Sugar, American Sports Story) will play Big Country, an intimidating member of a prison gang.
  • Augie Duke (Mayans M.C.) will be Iris, an inmate who shares a deep maternal bond with Cheyenne (Kelli Berglund).
  • Brad Beyer (NCIS) will be Captain David Ryan, a captain of the correctional staff.
  • Greg Vrotsos (Mayans M.C.) will play Dempsey, a prison guard with a strong sense of loyalty.
  • Daniel David Stewart (Memory of a Killer) will play Cody, a new inmate ill-prepared for prison life.
  • Michael Mosley (Ballard) will be Maynard Gibbs, a rule-abiding lieutenant who is suspicious of Cassidy.

While the aforementioned names may not be widely famous, the descriptions of their roles begin to paint a picture of what this reboot will be. Currently in production in Los Angeles, the series does not yet have a release date. Its broadcast, planned for Hulu in the United States and likely Disney+ in France, is expected to arrive in late 2026 or 2027.
