Martin Scorsese, fresh off his critically acclaimed 'Killers of the Flower Moon,' which garnered ten Oscar nominations, has completed filming on his next feature, 'What Happens at Night.' The 83-year-old filmmaker reunites with his frequent collaborator, Leonardo DiCaprio, marking their seventh project together. DiCaprio is joined by Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence, who portrays his character's wife in the upcoming drama.

The film is described as a psychological gothic drama, following an American couple (DiCaprio and Lawrence) who journey to a snow-covered European town to adopt a baby. Their stay at a mysterious and unsettling hotel leads them to encounters with a series of strange characters, including a singer, a businessman, and a spiritual healer. As the lines between reality and illusion begin to blur, the protagonists are forced to question their lives and perceptions.

The ensemble cast already boasts an impressive roster, including Mads Mikkelsen, Patricia Clarkson, and Jared Harris. Now, British pop sensation Charli XCX is reportedly joining the production. The Wrap first reported her involvement on October 22, 2026, with Variety later confirming her role is expected to be a brief cameo.

Charli XCX, 34, is a prolific artist with a significant global following, boasting over 15.4 billion streams on Spotify. Her latest album, "Music, Fashion, Film," was released on July 24, following her 2024 album "Brat." While primarily known for her music, Charli XCX is no stranger to acting, having appeared in Pete Ohs' 'Eruption,' Cathy Yan's 'The Gallerist,' and Gregg Araki's 'I Want Your Sex.' She is also slated to appear alongside Jessica Alba in Dakota Johnson's directorial debut, 'A Tree is Blue.'

Her connection to the project runs deeper than just a casting choice; the cover art for her "Music, Fashion, Film" album features a black and white photograph by Aidan Zamiri, showcasing musician John Cale, fashion designer Marc Jacobs, and Martin Scorsese himself. This artistic homage reflects the three elements of her album title, making her involvement in Scorsese's film a particularly fitting development.

'What Happens at Night' is being produced by Apple and StudioCanal. While excitement builds for this star-studded collaboration, an official release date for the film has yet to be announced.
