The much-anticipated tenth edition of PYIFF will draw to a close with 'Good Trip,' a collaboration between Hong Kong filmmakers Norris Wong and Hoi Wong, signaling a strong focus on contemporary Asian voices. A special highlight of the festival will be the screening of 'Torino Shadow,' a short film from PYIFF co-founder Jia Zhangke, which previously made its world premiere at Cannes Classics. This screening will be part of the Fenjiu Night festivities, enhanced by a live performance from the popular Chinese rock band Wutiaoren, promising a unique fusion of film and music.

The festival's competitive sections continue to champion emerging and established talent. The 'Crouching Tigers' competition, dedicated to the first, second, and third films from international directors, features an impressive selection. Notable entries include 'Ben’imana,' a Camera d’Or winner at this year’s Cannes Film Festival; 'Congo Boy,' which earned Best Actor honors in Cannes' Un Certain Regard section; and 'Filipiñana,' a Sundance premiere now selected as the Philippines’ official Oscar entry.

Meanwhile, the 'Hidden Dragons' competition shines a spotlight on rising Chinese-language filmmakers. This section includes Zou Jing’s 'A Girl Unknown,' which premiered in Cannes Critics Week; Dong Jie’s 'Zoom In, Zoom Out,' fresh from Venice Critics Week; and Yeung Leung Chuen’s 'We Are Born Good,' currently making waves in Toronto’s Discovery section.

Beyond the competitive spirit, PYIFF's Gala screenings will present a curated selection of acclaimed international films. Audiences can look forward to Marie Kreutzer’s 'Gentle Monster,' Na Hong-jin’s 'Hope,' Christian Mungui’s 'Fjord,' and James Gray’s 'Paper Tiger,' among others, offering a rich tapestry of global cinema.

To commemorate its decade-long journey, PYIFF is also hosting several special anniversary events. A joint celebration with the Nationwide Alliance of Arthouse Cinemas (NAAC) will reflect on the impactful collaborations and films supported over the past ten years. Additionally, the festival will feature 'Slices Of Time: An Electronic Remix DJ Set,' an innovative live performance conceived by musician Lim Giong. He will be joined by film sound designer Zhang Yang, electronic musician Li Yanzeng, and DJ Weng Weng, with visual artists Ye Qiusen and Wang Tianyu contributing moving-image works. This unique event promises to blend experimental visuals and live electronic music against the historic backdrop of Pingyao, looking forward to the festival's future while honoring its vibrant past.
