The promotional campaign for The Rings of Power Season 3 had been notably understated until now, with fans having to content themselves with a brief trailer released in summer 2026 and a few images of Barad-dûr. However, Prime Video has now intensified its efforts, releasing a dense new teaser that offers significant insights into the upcoming season.
Set five years after the events of Season 2, the new footage immediately signals a more ominous tone. It opens with a figure clad in full black armor, sporting a spiked helmet reminiscent of Morgoth's crown. This is Sauron, portrayed by Charlie Vickers, who is seen confronting a horde of Orcs, escorted by dark-caped guards bearing similar denticulated crowns. This aesthetic strongly hints at the imminent rise of the Ringwraiths, or the corruption of men who will eventually become the Nazgûl.
Crucially, the teaser confirms the forging of the One Ring. The Dark Lord is depicted gripping an incandescent ring with smith's tongs, a clear indication that he will personally craft the infamous artifact. Following the fall of Eregion and the demise of Celebrimbor at the close of Season 2, this sequence suggests a journey to Mount Doom, where Sauron will complete his ultimate weapon.
One intriguing moment shows Galadriel and Arondir navigating snowy peaks alongside an Orc, who appears to be an ally rather than a captive. This unexpected alliance could stem from the elimination of Adar in the previous season, potentially fracturing the enemy's ranks and leading to a dissident faction willing to cooperate with the Elves. Alternatively, the Orc might serve as a reluctant guide, akin to Gollum, aiding their exploration of hostile territories.
Meanwhile, the storyline involving the former Stranger, now fully identified as Gandalf, continues to unfold in Rhûn. The wizard is seen clutching his wooden staff, observing a flame levitating above a stone altar encircled by ground markings. This imagery suggests Gandalf is delving deeper into his mastery of the Secret Fire, or the Flame of Anor, foreshadowing a significant increase in his powers as he prepares to confront the looming darkness.
In a notable departure from previous seasons, Amazon Prime Video has opted for an accelerated release schedule for Season 3, condensing the entire run into just three weeks:
- November 11, 2026: Episodes 1, 2, 3, and 4
- November 18, 2026: Episodes 5 and 6
- November 25, 2026: Episodes 7 and 8 (Season Finale)
