Taylor Sheridan has meticulously crafted a sprawling television empire, notably with the Western saga Yellowstone and its prequels 1883 and 1923, along with the forthcoming Marshals and Dutton Ranch. Beyond the ranch, his crime dramas Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King, as well as Lioness and Landman, have become hits on Paramount+. Now, one of these crime series is set to introduce its first major spinoff.

Executive producer and director Christina Alexandra Voros recently disclosed in an interview with USA Today that Sylvester Stallone's character, Dwight Manfredi, will indeed appear in the highly anticipated Frisco King. Manfredi, the New York mafia capo exiled to Oklahoma in Tulsa King, is slated to feature in the spinoff's premiere episode. Stallone will also serve as an executive producer for the new series.

However, Manfredi's involvement will be limited to the initial episode, after which he will remain based in Tulsa. The narrative will then fully shift its focus to Samuel L. Jackson's character, Russell Lee Washington Jr., as he embarks on building his own criminal enterprise in Texas. Voros underscored this transition, stating, "As much as Tulsa King is Dwight Manfredi's show, Frisco King is Russell Washington's show."

Russell Lee Washington Jr., a charismatic hitman-turned-hustler, first made his debut in Tulsa King season 3. Initially dispatched by rival New York mobsters to eliminate Manfredi, Washington instead formed an unexpected alliance with his former prison acquaintance. In Frisco King, Washington relocates to Frisco, Texas, an affluent Dallas suburb, with the ambition of establishing his unique criminal domain.

To aid his new venture, Washington recruits an eclectic group of young individuals, including the entrepreneurial college dropout Teddy (Asa Germann), hotel valet Keith (Kai Caster), popular cheerleader London (Lilah Pate), and her friend Avery (Savanna Gann).

The spinoff's initial concept, titled NOLA King, would have seen Washington return to his hometown of New Orleans. However, Sheridan ultimately decided to shift the primary setting to the fast-growing Texas suburb of Frisco. Voros explained the strategic move, noting that New Orleans already possesses a well-established criminal underworld, whereas Frisco offers a fresh, "clean and bright" landscape, mirroring Manfredi's initial displacement in Tulsa. "There are plenty of gangsters and hustlers in New Orleans. It’s fun to see someone comfortable in a New Orleans world, and have them forced to break new ground in a community that is new, clean and bright... He was like a fox in the henhouse. Frisco is a similar target," Voros elaborated.

While an exact release date has not yet been announced, Frisco King is expected to stream on Paramount+ sometime in 2026. Fans can also anticipate the premiere of Tulsa King season 4 on October 16.
