Despite receiving an additional promotional push, including a special airing on NBC on May 14th, the streamer has opted not to renew 'M.I.A.' for a second run. The reasons behind the cancellation remain undisclosed at this time.

'M.I.A.' distinguished itself as one of the rare productions that not only was set in Miami but also filmed entirely on location. The series centered on Etta Tiger Jonze (Shannon Gisela), whose life takes an unexpected turn when the family's drug-running business faces threats, forcing her to navigate the perilous Miami criminal underworld using her sharp wits.

The ensemble cast featured Shannon Gisela in the lead, alongside notable actors such as Cary Elwes, Danay Garcia, Brittany Adebumola, Dylan Jackson, Alberto Guerra, Maurice Compte, Gerardo Celasco, and Marta Milans.

Behind the scenes, Karen Campbell served as the showrunner, a writer for an episode, and an executive producer. Alethea Jones directed the initial two episodes and also held an executive producer credit. Additional directorial contributions came from Gwyneth Horder-Payton, Marizee Almas, Ben Semanoff, and John Dahl. MRC acted as the studio for 'M.I.A.', with Paramount Global Content Distribution handling distribution.
