Less than three years after his thriller Trap, M. Night Shyamalan is returning with Reste avec moi, for which the trailer has just been unveiled. The feature film, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor, known for her role in the hit series Bridgerton, is based on an original story by M. Night Shyamalan and author Nicholas Sparks, celebrated for his novels such as The Notebook, Dear John, and The Last Song, all of which have been adapted into films.

Phoebe Dynevor steps into a role previously announced for Alicia Vikander. Ashley Walters, Julie Hagerty, and Jay O. Sanders are also part of the cast for this romantic supernatural thriller.

A Film and a Novel

Shyamalan and Sparks co-created the story: Shyamalan is handling the screenplay for the feature film, while Sparks is simultaneously working on the novel, which was released in October 2025 in the United States and in January 2026 in France by Michel Laffon editions under the title Immortelle.

This collaboration between the two men is certainly unexpected. Nicholas Sparks is synonymous with grand melodramatic romances, while M. Night Shyamalan has established himself with fantastical thrillers like The Sixth Sense, The Village, and Split. Reste avec moi thus promises to blend these two distinct universes, offering a captivating mix of love story and supernatural mystery.

The film follows Tate Gordon, a solitary and introverted architect who moves to Cape Cod to complete a new project. There, he encounters a captivating young woman who encourages him to come out of his shell and draws him into a dark secret haunting the town.

Reste avec moi is slated for release in theaters on February 3, 2027. Film fans will have to wait a few more months to discover the latest twist from the master of plot reversals.
