Acclaimed Indonesian filmmaker Kamila Andini's latest feature, "Four Seasons In Java," has secured international sales rights with Goodfellas, Popcorn Wire has learned from Deadline. This significant development comes just as the film prepares for its highly anticipated world premiere in the Centrepiece program at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
Andini is a celebrated figure on the global festival circuit, renowned for her evocative storytelling and insightful explorations of Indonesian culture and womanhood. Her previous works have garnered considerable international acclaim; "Before, Now & Then" premiered in Competition at the Berlinale in 2022, earning a Silver Bear for Best Supporting Performance. Her 2021 film, "Yuni," captivated audiences at Toronto, winning the prestigious Platform Prize before becoming Indonesia's submission for the Best International Feature Film Oscar. Goodfellas also handled international sales for "Before, Now & Then," indicating a strong continuing partnership.
"Four Seasons In Java" promises to be another compelling entry in Andini's filmography. The psychological drama, infused with elements of mystery and magical realism, centers on Pertiwi, portrayed by Putri Marino. Pertiwi returns to her secluded village after a period of incarceration, a homecoming fraught with tension and rejection from her community and even her own family. Her journey forces her to confront the specters of her past—the people, memories, and violence that shaped her life.

Ifa Isfansyah produced the film through Indonesian production company Forka Films, a frequent collaborator with Andini. Forka Films has a distinguished track record, having also produced Andini’s "The Seen And Unseen," "Yuni," and "Before, Now & Then," alongside other critically acclaimed works like Eddie Cahyono’s "Siti" and Garin Nugroho’s "Memories Of My Body."
