The upcoming feature film 'Leviathan' is a live-action adaptation of Shiro Kuroi’s best-selling manga. Set in the year 2127, the narrative plunges viewers into a desperate struggle for survival as a group of students finds themselves adrift in the vastness of space. Following a catastrophic accident that leaves their spacecraft damaged and critically low on oxygen, they are forced into a brutal fight for the single remaining life support system onboard.

Directing this intense space saga are Michihito Fujii, known for his work on Netflix's 'Last Samurai Standing', and Ryohei Shingu. Fujii also collaborated with Izumi Takahashi on the screenplay. The film boasts a promising cast led by Shunsuke Michieda, recognized for 'Even If This Love Disappears From The World', and Natsuki Deguchi, who recently starred in 'Look Back'.

Japanese studio Toho, which has been enjoying global success with recent hits like 'Exit 8' and the enduring 'Godzilla' franchise, is set to release 'Leviathan' in Japan on February 11, 2027. Goodfellas, handling all international sales outside of Asia, will be showcasing a first promo reel for the film, currently in post-production, at the AFM.

Beyond 'Leviathan', Goodfellas' robust fall slate for the AFM underscores its commitment to diverse and compelling cinema. The lineup includes the previously announced sci-fi feature 'The Girl Who Was Plugged In', helmed by Jennifer Kent ('The Babadook', 'The Nightingale'), with Sophie Thatcher ('Companion') in a dual role as a disfigured woman remotely controlling a lab-grown 'human body'. Pre-production for this feature is already underway.

Also on the slate is Mia Hansen-Løve’s historical drama 'If Love Should Die', starring Renate Reinsve as the trailblazing writer Mary Wollstonecraft. Michel Hazanavicius’s 'radical fantastique drama' 'The Third Hand', featuring Francois Civil as a soldier with a grafted hand, is currently in post-production. The company also brings completed films such as Michaël R. Roskam’s World War Two Belgian resistance drama 'Le Faux Soir' and Kamila Andini’s 'Four Seasons', which served as Indonesia's entry for the 99th Academy Awards. Rounding out their impressive offerings are the sold-out Cannes Palme d’Or winner 'Fjord', Romania's Oscar entry, and the hot Spanish contender 'La Bola Negra'.
