The cast of 'The House of Guerrero' is growing, with Lisa Vidal, Aaron Dominguez, Jesse Garcia, Edwin Hodge, Emilio Rivera, Adam Rodriguez, and Javon Walton joining the production. The news, initially reported by Deadline, highlights the ongoing momentum for Rodriguez's first turn in the director's chair for a feature film. Filming is currently taking place across Los Angeles and California’s Imperial Valley.
These new cast members will fill key supporting roles, enriching the narrative of the family drama centered around boxing. Lisa Vidal ('Righteous Thieves') is set to play Tia Lupe, Alex Guerrero’s aunt. Aaron Dominguez ('Gossip Girl') will appear as Perico, a friend of Alex in El Centro. Jesse Garcia ('Flamin’ Hot') takes on the role of Diego, Alex’s therapist. Edwin Hodge ('Tomorrow War') joins as Malcolm, the manager of Club Crave. Emilio Rivera ('Mayans M.C.') is cast as Tio Turi, Alex’s uncle and husband to Tia Lupe. Adam Rodriguez ('Criminal Minds: Evolution') will portray Ruben Chapa, a trainer at the local El Centro boxing gym. Finally, Javon Walton ('Euphoria') will play Alex during his earlier years, offering a glimpse into the protagonist's past.
They join a previously announced cast led by Carlos Sanson Jr. as Alex Guerrero, the film's central character. Rosario Dawson is set to play Elsa, Alex's mother, with George Lopez as his embattled ex-fighter father, Alejandro. Gina Rodriguez herself stars as Paloma, Alex's older sister and a gifted boxer.
The story, penned by Gina Rodriguez and Bernardo Cubría, follows Alex Guerrero, whose promising boxing career is cut short. He gets one last chance to step back into the ring, initially with his father Alejandro in his corner. However, grappling with the grief of losing his mother, Elsa, Alex eventually turns to his sister Paloma to become his new trainer, helping him rediscover his fighting spirit.
