Directed and co-written by Cédric Jimenez, known for his work on thrillers like Bac Nord, the film is set to chronicle Hallyday's journey from his early career in the 1960s up to his iconic 1993 concert at the Parc des Princes. It will explore pivotal relationships, including his bond with singer Sylvie Vartan, and delve into his innovative 'Johnny Circus' tour of the 1970s. The biopic will also highlight his artistic resurgence in the 1980s, a period marked by collaborations with Michel Berger and his relationship with actress Nathalie Baye.
Production for 'Johnny' officially commenced on June 1st, with a stellar cast bringing the legendary figures to life. Benjamin Voisin, an acclaimed actor who was nominated for a César award for Best Actor in 2026 for L'Étranger, takes on the challenging role of Johnny Hallyday. Voisin stepped into the part after Raphaël Quenard, initially cast, departed the project.
