As the 78th Emmy Awards draw near, new details from producers at Jesse Collins Entertainment reveal a star-studded and emotional telecast. Among the highlights will be a special tribute to the legendary Dolly Parton, who passed away on August 25 at 80. While specific details remain under wraps, producer Jesse Collins hinted at a "very beautiful tribute" currently being finalized.

Adding to the evening's poignant moments, roots country music sensation Noah Kahan is set to perform a rendition of "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" to accompany the annual 'In Memoriam' segment. Collins noted that Kahan chose the Paul Simon classic due to its deep personal meaning, and he's been working closely with the production team to create a unique and moving arrangement.

The ceremony will also feature several highly anticipated reunions. The stars of "Charlie's Angels" will gather to celebrate the show's 50th anniversary, while Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz are slated to reunite to mark the 30th anniversary of "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer."

Host Mariska Hargitay is preparing for a lively evening, approaching her duties with a relaxed attitude. "I'm not a professional comedian, and so I don't feel that kind of pressure that they might feel. I'm just doing what I do. I'm having the time of my life," she shared. Her hosting gig has also become a family affair, with her brother providing olive trees for the blue carpet (in honor of NBC's 100th anniversary), which will later be donated to a homeless shelter.

Producers plan to fully utilize Hargitay's talents, ensuring she remains a prominent figure throughout the show. Hints of "Law & Order: SVU" references and even a possible "dun dun" sound effect are in store, along with potential cameos from her wide network of friends.

Another significant honor for the evening will be the presentation of the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award to Michael J. Fox, promising an emotional highlight. To accommodate these special segments and give winners ample time for their speeches, five categories have been moved to Night 2 of the Emmys, a strategic shift that executive producers Cris Abrego and Maury McIntyre confirmed has successfully created more breathing room in the main telecast.

New voting rules for the revised variety series category could also lead to an interesting moment: if multiple nominees receive a "yes" vote from 90% of voters, all will win. "If multiple people win, each would get up to give their speech and it'll be a TV moment," Collins quipped.

The 78th Emmys will broadcast live from the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live on Monday, September 14, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC and Peacock.
