In a significant move reported by Variety, Hollywood technologist Remington Scott has been appointed as the head of Eros Imagination, a brand-new unit under Eros Innovation. Scott, renowned for his groundbreaking work on iconic films like The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (where he spearheaded Gollum's motion capture) and Spider-Man 2 (building the first digital humans using Light Stage technology), brings over three decades of experience across film, games, and immersive entertainment.
Eros Imagination is poised to be a hub where human creativity converges with cutting-edge visual effects, artificial intelligence, digital-human tools, real-time production, and gaming technologies. The unit's mandate is dual-pronged: it will support Eros's internal film and content studio, Eros Brahmand, by providing technology and production assistance for films, series, and live immersive shows, while also pursuing partnerships with external studios, streamers, filmmakers, game developers, and rights holders worldwide.
Scott’s impressive career includes serving as motion capture director for Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and overseeing digital humans for blockbusters such as Superman Returns, Beowulf, and Watchmen. His extensive gaming credits feature titles like Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, and Just Cause, alongside Emmy-nominated immersive productions like the Notorious B.I.G. virtual concert and a Fox Sports tribute for Super Bowl LIX. His expertise is expected to be pivotal in developing the next generation of digital entertainment experiences.
The new unit will leverage Eros Innovation's proprietary Large Cultural Model (LCM) family, a multimodal AI system trained on an expansive, rights-cleared catalog of cultural tokens. This technology will be integrated with performance capture and real-time rendering, always with human artists at the creative helm. Eros Innovation emphasizes that filmmakers and artists will maintain full creative control, with core principles centered on consent, authenticity, provenance, and IP protection.
One of Eros Imagination’s first major projects will be an immersive music experience centered on the legendary Indian playback singer Mohammed Rafi. This initiative, developed in partnership with Rafi’s family, plans to combine an authorized digital performance with cinematic storytelling and interactive elements, aiming to introduce his timeless music to a new generation. This project will also establish workflows for digital human production that can be applied to other authorized artists and properties.
"Artificial intelligence, digital humans, real-time production and immersive technologies are giving filmmakers and creators tools that can fundamentally expand what is possible," Scott said, expressing his enthusiasm for combining these capabilities with Eros’s filmmaking heritage and cultural intelligence. Ridhima Lulla, co-founder and co-president of Eros Innovation, highlighted that the new unit will "help build the creative technologies and experiences that allow those stories, characters and artists to move beyond the traditional boundaries of film, music and entertainment."
Eros envisions a future where characters and artists created for one medium, like film or live shows, can seamlessly transition into games, interactive stories, and new commercial formats, expanding their reach and impact across the entertainment landscape. Further partnerships and projects are anticipated to be announced in due course.
