The festival, running from October 26 to November 4, has curated a special "Academy in Tokyo" program around Kramer's visit. On October 28, Kramer will join Academy President Lynette Howell Taylor and Meredith Shea, the organization’s Chief Membership, Impact and Industry Officer, for a 90-minute panel discussion. Moderated by TIFF Director Hisamatsu Takeo, the session will offer audiences a rare glimpse behind the scenes of the Oscars, delve into the Academy's international initiatives, and explore its vision for the future of global cinema.

Following the panel, Kramer will be presented with TIFF’s Global Cinema Leadership Special Award. This honor acknowledges his substantial contributions to the growth of the worldwide film business and the advancement of film culture, reflecting his efforts to expand the Academy's global footprint.

The following day, October 29, Kramer will return to the stage for a compelling conversation with Toho's Matsuoka Hiro. This session promises to be a deep dive into the current state of the global film landscape, examining the evolving dynamics of theatrical and streaming distribution, and exploring avenues for deeper cross-border collaborations. Matsuoka, a formidable figure in the Japanese film industry, has spearheaded Toho's international expansion, including key acquisitions like Gkids and Anime Limited, and oversaw the production of the Oscar-winning phenomenon "Godzilla Minus One." His leadership also saw Toho achieve its best-ever results at the Japanese box office in 2025.

Kramer, who took the helm of the Academy in 2022 after successfully launching the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, has been a driving force behind the organization's push for a more diverse and international membership. His tenure as CEO has focused on expanding the Academy's global operations, overseeing everything from the Oscars telecast to the ambitious Academy100 campaign. Howell Taylor, an Oscar-nominated producer, is in her second term as president, while Shea oversees crucial areas like membership, awards administration, and international outreach.

These public events are free to attend, reinforcing the Academy's commitment to accessibility and global engagement, though advance reservations will be required. The visit underscores the Academy's proactive role in fostering international cinematic dialogue and strengthening partnerships across continents.
