The casting news, first reported by Deadline, sees the trio adding their comedic talents to the highly anticipated series. While their specific roles are yet to be revealed, their involvement signals a significant boost for the project, which aims to recapture the spirit of the original while appealing to contemporary audiences.

'Meatballs' is poised to introduce viewers to a new cohort of counselors and campers navigating the chaotic, often ill-advised decisions made at a struggling summer camp. Despite its challenges, the camp retains its potential as a haven for 200 kids—and more importantly, a wild playground for the young adults who work there. The series synopsis hints at a blend of hard work, good vibes, and plenty of opportunities for youthful shenanigans.

Maddie Phillips, known for her role in 'Gen V,' is stepping into the lead as Skipper, the head camp counselor, a character that echoes Bill Murray's iconic performance in the original film. She is joined by Robbie G.K. from 'Heated Rivalry,' who will play Dale. The ensemble cast also includes Mollie Guest, Jordan Kronis, Molly Lewis, Krista Nazaire, Markus McNamara, and Lachlan Quarmby.

The eight-episode, half-hour series is slated to premiere in 2027 as part of Crave’s 2026/27 slate. Behind the scenes, Jeff Detsky ('The Beaverton') and Wendy Litner ('My Dead Mom') are serving as showrunners and executive producers. Directing duties will be handled by Michael Dowse ('The Sticky'), who also executive produces, and Aleysa Young ('Baroness Von Sketch Show'). Additional executive producers include Virginia Rankin, Graham Ludlow, and Kaleigh Kavanagh, with Tashi Bieler producing for Blink49 Studios. The show is a collaborative effort between Blink49 Studios and Incendo, in partnership with Bell Media-owned Crave, with funding support from the Canada Media Fund and the Bell Fund.

International distribution for 'Meatballs' will be handled by Sphere Abacus, a Bell-owned sales house, which plans to showcase the series at MIPCOM Cannes, aiming to bring this Canadian reimagining to a global audience.
