Apple TV+ is bolstering the cast of its highly anticipated action-thriller 'Disavowed' with the addition of Sebastian Koch. The veteran actor, celebrated for his work in films like 'Never Look Away' and 'Black Book', will join the series in a regular capacity, though specific details regarding his character are currently being kept under wraps.
'Disavowed' promises a high-stakes narrative from creators Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, known for their work on blockbuster action films. The series centers on Brad Griffin, a legendary CIA Case Officer portrayed by James Marsden, who finds his career abruptly terminated. Disgraced and cut off from the intelligence community, Brad takes matters into his own hands, embarking on a rogue mission to hunt down an elusive assassin responsible for his colleague's death – all for a hefty $15 million federal bounty.
Koch will be joining a robust cast that already includes a host of familiar faces. Alongside Marsden, the series features Norman Reedus, Sylvia Hoeks, Bokeem Woodbine, Noma Dumezweni, Daniel Zovatto, Mia Tharia, and Sonita Henry. This collection of talent suggests a broad and compelling character roster designed to drive the intricate plot.
The production is backed by Apple Studios, with Blue Marble Pictures, the team behind the acclaimed 'Pachinko', also on board. Art Marcum and Matt Holloway serve as executive producers, alongside Tom Spezialy, Michelle MacLaren, Rebecca Hobbs, and James Marsden himself. Theresa Kang and Caroline Garity are also executive producers for Blue Marble Pictures. Michelle MacLaren, a director with a strong track record on shows like 'The Morning Show' and 'Breaking Bad', is set to direct the first two episodes, further cementing the series' pedigree.
Sebastian Koch brings considerable international experience to 'Disavowed'. His filmography includes significant roles in Steven Spielberg's 'Bridge of Spies', Tom Hooper's 'The Danish Girl', and Paul Verhoeven's 'Black Book'. On television, he gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of German entrepreneur Otto Düring in Showtime's 'Homeland'. Looking ahead, Koch is also slated to appear in Matt Reeves' 'The Batman: Part II' and Gabriele Salvatores' 'The Luneberg Variant', demonstrating his continued presence across major cinematic and television projects. His casting is expected to add depth and gravitas to Apple TV+'s upcoming thriller.
