Starting this Friday and running through October 31, viewers can stream The Hunger Games, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes on Fandango's free streaming platform, Fandango at Home. This marks the first time the entire film series has been offered for on-demand streaming together without a subscription fee, though it will include limited commercial breaks, as assured by Fandango.

The strategic move, first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, aims to reignite interest in the beloved franchise ahead of the theatrical debut of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping on November 20. The new film is an adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ latest novel, delving into the origins of fan-favorite character Haymitch Abernathy, who famously mentored Katniss Everdeen in the original series.

Set 24 years before the events of the first Hunger Games movie, Sunrise on the Reaping transports audiences back to the morning of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. The story will follow a young Haymitch, portrayed by Joseph Zada, as he navigates the brutal arena, forming an unexpected alliance with fellow tribute Maysilee Donner, played by Mckenna Grace. Together, they join a burgeoning coalition determined to challenge the Capitol's iron grip under President Snow, risking everything to disrupt the Games from within and set the stage for future rebellion.

Will McIntosh, president of digital platforms & ventures at Versant, highlighted the collaborative intent behind the initiative. “This first-of-its-kind takeover demonstrates how Fandango can help studios engage audiences across the full entertainment journey – from rediscovering the films they love at home to building excitement for the next chapter of The Hunger Games franchise on the big screen,” McIntosh stated. He added that the partnership with Lionsgate is designed to offer audiences a “premium, immersive way to revisit this iconic franchise for free before seeing the new release in theatres.”

With a collective global box office gross of $3.3 billion, The Hunger Games franchise continues to captivate audiences. This free streaming event provides both a perfect opportunity for newcomers to discover the series and for longtime fans to refresh their memory of Panem's tumultuous history before the highly anticipated prequel arrives this fall.
