„Widow’s Bay“, „DTF: St. Louis“ und das abgesetzte „Spider-Noir“ führen die Gewinnerliste der Creative Arts Emmys, Nacht 2, an

Die zweite Nacht der 78. Creative Arts Emmy Awards sah die Comedy-Serie „Widow’s Bay“ von Apple TV+ als dominierende Kraft, die acht Auszeichnungen gewann und sich damit als starke Anwärterin für die bevorstehende Primetime-Zeremonie positionierte. Die Serie „DTF: St. Louis“ von HBO Max...

Apple TV+ feierte eine bemerkenswerte zweite Nacht und sammelte insgesamt 18 Emmys für seine Produktionen. Neben den acht Auszeichnungen für „Widow’s Bay“ erhielt der Streamer vier Preise für „Pluribus“ und jeweils drei für „Margo’s Got Money Troubles“ und „Palm Royale“. Zu den Erfolgen von „Widow’s Bay“ gehörte der Gewinn für Betty Gilpin als herausragende Gastdarstellerin in einer Comedy-Serie. Die Serie gewann außerdem Auszeichnungen für Casting, Musikaufsicht, Kameraführung (Halbstundenformat), Tonmischung und -schnitt (Halbstundenformat und Animation), Musikkomposition und Produktionsdesign (Halbstundenformat).

„DTF St. Louis“ von HBO Max war ein weiterer großer Gewinner und sicherte sich sechs Auszeichnungen. David Harbour und Linda Cardellini gewannen beide ihre ersten Emmys als herausragende Nebendarsteller in einer Miniserie/Anthologie-Serie. Showrunner Steve Conrad erhielt ebenfalls doppelte Ehrungen für Regie und Drehbuch in derselben Kategorie. Harbour drückte seine Dankbarkeit aus: „Ich kann nicht glauben, dass Sie unsere Serie so sehr angenommen haben – diese schöne, verletzliche, seltsame Serie, die ich so sehr liebe.“ Cardellini stimmte zu und dankte ihrer „DTF-Familie“ und Conrad für sein „schönes Herz und deinen schönen Verstand“.

In einer bittersüßen Wendung gewann „Spider-Noir“ von Prime Video fünf Emmys, nur wenige Tage nachdem die Nachricht von seiner Absetzung bekannt wurde. Die Serie, die keine zweite Staffel mehr erhalten wird, wurde für Stunt-Performance, Tonschnitt (Stundenformat), Titeldesign, Spezialeffekte in einer einzelnen Episode und Kameraführung (Stundenformat) ausgezeichnet. Der leitende Stuntkoordinator Freddy Bouciegues äußerte sich zu dem Gewinn: „Ich bin begeistert, weil wir eine coole Serie machen konnten. Wir konnten große Action machen. Wir konnten alles tun, was wir wollten.“ Stuntkoordinator Hugh Aodh O’Brien fügte hinzu: „Ich bin froh, dass wir gewonnen haben, und das ist wohl das i-Tüpfelchen.“

Der Abend bot auch mehrere bewegende Momente, darunter ein posthum verliehener Preis für den verstorbenen Rob Reiner, der den Emmy für den herausragenden Gastdarsteller in einer Comedy-Serie für seine Rolle in „The Bear“ erhielt. Das Publikum im Peacock Theatre ehrte Reiner mit einer langen stehenden Ovation.

Weitere bemerkenswerte Einzelsiege waren Shailene Woodley für die herausragende Gastdarstellerin in einer Drama-Serie für „Paradise“ und Ernest Harden Jr. für den herausragenden Gastdarsteller in einer Drama-Serie für „The Pitt“. Harden Jr. reflektierte über seine lange Karriere und widmete seinen Gewinn Bette Davis und teilte seinen Weg in der Branche. Julie Andrews schrieb erneut Geschichte und baute ihren eigenen Rekord als älteste Emmy-Gewinnerin im Alter von 90 Jahren aus, indem sie ihren vierten Emmy für die herausragende Sprecherleistung in einer Zeichentrickserie für „Bridgerton“ gewann.

In den Programm-Kategorien brach „South Park“ von Comedy Central eine zehnjährige Serie und gewann den Emmy für das herausragende Animationsprogramm für seine Episode „Sermon On The ‘Mount““. „Remarkably Bright Creatures“ von Netflix mit Sally Field wurde als herausragender Film ausgezeichnet.

Um den Auszeichnungen eine neue Dimension zu verleihen, führte die Television Academy ihren allerersten „Legacy Award“ ein, der an „I Love Lucy“ verliehen wurde. Diese neue Auszeichnung würdigt Programme, die einen tiefgreifenden und bleibenden Einfluss auf das Publikum und die Branche hatten. June Diane Raphael, die die Auszeichnung überreichte, hob den anhaltenden Einfluss von „Lucy“ hervor und sagte: „Ohne Lucy gäbe es keine Carol Burnett, Tina Fey oder Kristen Wiig.“

Ein wiederkehrendes Thema während des Abends war die Bedeutung der Rückverlagerung der Produktion nach Los Angeles. Gewinner wie die Kostümdesignerin von „Palm Royale“, Alix Friedberg, und die Casting-Direktorin von „The Pitt“, Cathy Sandrich Gelfond, lobten die Talente und Ressourcen der Stadt. Die Kostümdesignerin von „Fallout“, Dayna Pink, betonte die wirtschaftlichen Vorteile des Drehens in Kalifornien und hob die Fülle an Verleihfirmen, erfahrenen Crews und die breitere Unterstützung lokaler Unternehmen hervor.

Die zweite Nacht begann mit einer Monolog von „The Pitt“-Star und ausführendem Produzenten Noah Wyle, der sich für die Widerstandsfähigkeit und das Handwerk der Unterhaltungsindustrie einsetzte. Er erinnerte die Anwesenden daran, dass Auszeichnungen nur ein Aspekt des Geschäfts seien und betonte die Hingabe und harte Arbeit, die in jede Produktion einfließen, sowohl vor als auch hinter der Kamera.

Diese Zeremonie am Sonntag umfasste 53 Kategorien, hauptsächlich mit Schwerpunkt auf fiktionalen Programmen, darunter Gastdarstellerkategorien in Comedy und Drama, Animationsprogramme, Kameraführung und verschiedene handwerkliche Auszeichnungen. In diesem Jahr wurden fünf Hauptkategorien, darunter Nebendarsteller und Regie/Drehbuch für Miniserien, von der Primetime-Übertragung zu den Creative Arts-Veranstaltungen verlegt. Folglich hat die Television Academy die Unterscheidung „Creative Arts“ gestrichen und bezeichnet alle drei Veranstaltungen einfach als „Emmys“.

In der ersten Nacht am Samstag führte „The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny“ mit sieben Emmys, darunter einem für Bad Bunny selbst, die Liste an. „The Traitors“ von Peacock folgte dicht dahinter mit sechs Siegen.
