Leading the charge is 'Red Bird,' a French action film that has already landed a significant deal for the CIS region with Kinologistika LLC, covering Russia and other former Soviet states. This independent production, shot in Marseille and released in French cinemas earlier this year by SOUTHfilms, is a testament to physical action, drawing on the extensive stunt and martial arts backgrounds of its directing trio: Alexandre Laugier, Thomas Habibes, and Houssam Adili. Habibes and Adili also star, supported by Eric Delcourt, Jean-Louis Tribes, and Jean-Marie Paris.

The narrative follows Max, whose father, covertly known as Red Bird, dies under mysterious circumstances. Max and his friend Sam embark on a quest for truth, which quickly spirals into a dangerous conspiracy.

Janice Woo of Cappu Films expressed enthusiasm for the project, noting, "'Red Bird' brings the energy of its filmmakers and stunt team directly to the screen. We’re pleased to have secured a CIS deal and look forward to introducing the film to more distributors in Tokyo."

Meanwhile, the American indie romance 'Step Back, Doors Closing' is also seeking international buyers. Written and directed by Carter Ward, who produced alongside Jane Hollon and Kathryn Crabtree, the film offers a quintessential D.C. love story. It introduces Ryan and Julisa, two strangers whose chance encounter on a Washington, D.C. Metro train blossoms into a 24-hour urban odyssey, as they explore the city and reveal their deepest desires and fears to each other. Carmen Berkeley and Reilly Walters lead the cast, with Michelle Macedo, Ashley Romans, and Mershad Torabi in supporting roles.

'Step Back, Doors Closing' made its debut at Los Angeles’ Dances With Films in 2024 and has already found a North American audience through Freestyle Digital Media, which handles its release in the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean. Now, Cappu Films is actively looking for distribution partners in other territories.

Director Carter Ward shared his excitement about the collaboration: "I could not be more proud or excited to partner with Cappu Films. Their support means the world not only to myself, but our entire cast and crew. We can’t wait for international audiences to see the version of Washington, D.C. we know and love."

Cappu Films, known for its diverse library spanning arthouse and commercial titles across various genres, is strategically positioned to bring these independent cinematic voices to a global audience from the vibrant platform of TIFFCOM.
