Peacock is gearing up to release The Good Daughter, a gripping six-hour Southern Gothic mystery based on Karin Slaughter's acclaimed 2017 novel. The series, which draws comparisons to the dark psychological depth of Sharp Objects and the community-driven crime narrative of Mare of Easttown, promises a compelling watch.

The story centers on two estranged sisters, Charlotte “Charlie” Quinn (Meghann Fahy) and Samantha “Sam” Quinn (Rose Byrne), from the small Georgia town of Pikeville. Twenty years after a brutal attack left their mother murdered, Charlotte witnesses a school shooting in their hometown. This traumatic event forces Samantha back into the family fold, inevitably resurfacing old resentments, past violence, and long-buried secrets.

The Good Daughter is scheduled to begin streaming on Peacock starting November 12, 2026. In anticipation of its release, Peacock has already unveiled a first teaser and exclusive first-look images, building excitement for the adaptation.

Author Karin Slaughter herself is deeply involved in the project, having penned all six episodes of the series. Steph Green takes the directorial reins and also serves as an executive producer. Slaughter revealed in a past interview that she approached writing the script for The Good Daughter as a "thought experiment." Having observed the adaptations of her other works, Will Trent and Pieces of Her, for television, she decided to tackle the adaptation process herself, a venture that has evidently come to fruition beautifully.
