Fans of Manny, Sid, Diego, and the rest of the prehistoric herd can rejoice: Ice Age: Boiling Point is making solid progress towards its February 5 theatrical release. This marks the first major Ice Age theatrical release in over ten years, a significant comeback for the franchise which seemed uncertain after Blue Sky Studios, its original animation house, shut down in 2021.

Collider's exclusive confirmation reveals that Batu Sener has officially signed on as the composer for Ice Age: Boiling Point, with recording already in progress at the Fox scoring stage. Sener is no stranger to the frosty world of Ice Age, having previously scored the Disney+ spin-off The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild and the miniseries Ice Age: Scrat Tales. His connection to the franchise runs even deeper, as he is a protégé of John Powell, the acclaimed composer behind the scores for Ice Age: The Meltdown through Continental Drift. Sener's career has been rapidly ascending, with notable credits including the 2024 Robbie Williams biopic Better Man and the upcoming Harold and the Purple Crayon feature, alongside work on both Wicked movies and the How to Train Your Dragon trilogy.

John C. Donkin, who directed The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, will return to helm Boiling Point, guiding the series through its new era under 20th Century Studios. The film is set to bring back familiar voices, with Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Queen Latifah, and Simon Pegg all reprising their iconic roles. The continued success of the franchise, which has collectively grossed over $3 billion worldwide, made a return inevitable, and the reception to Buck Wild on Disney+ further solidified audience interest.

While exact plot details remain under wraps, Ice Age: Boiling Point is expected to pick up sometime after 2016's Ice Age: Collision Course. Early teasers hint at a wild adventure featuring dinosaurs, lava, and exploration into the furthest reaches of the Lost World. And, of course, the fan-favorite acorn-obsessed squirrel, Scrat, will be back, potentially joined by a baby Scrat and even a monstrous Jurassic Scrat. More information, including a full trailer and additional cast announcements, is anticipated as the film's release date draws nearer.
