Despite an extensive list of confirmed appearances that includes major players like Robert Downey Jr. reportedly returning as Doctor Doom, Chris Evans reprising his role as Steve Rogers, and the inclusion of the Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, Black Panther, Namor, and a host of X-Men from the Fox era, Russo hinted that Marvel Studios has more up its sleeve. The sheer scale of the project, and the tight lid on official announcements, has even made it challenging for the filmmakers themselves to keep track.

"The casting is so gigantic: we have announced a part of the actors, but not yet the totality," Russo told GamesRadar+. He added, "I get lost myself between those who have been revealed and those who are not, so I have to be careful what I say."

This revelation fuels speculation about which other fan-favorite characters might make an appearance. Could audiences see the return of Doctor Strange, the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Scarlet Witch, or Captain Marvel? The possibility of Tom Holland's Spider-Man, Deadpool & Wolverine, or even a deeper dive into characters like Daredevil, Moon Knight, or Hawkeye, remains a tantalizing prospect for the MCU's future.

Adding to the intrigue, both Anthony and Joe Russo disclosed that they are still deeply involved in the final stages of the film's production, despite its release being less than three months away. This intense, ongoing creative process underscores the monumental effort behind Doomsday.

"Joe and I are still fully immersed in finalizing Doomsday. We always repeat that we are never finished with a film until it is ripped from our hands, even if it means stepping over our bodies," Russo explained. "For us, it's a constantly evolving process… from conception to the final delivery of the film. It's living matter, and we are still working on it."

This commitment to refining the film until the very last moment, combined with the promise of unannounced cast members, ensures that anticipation for Avengers: Doomsday will only continue to build ahead of its December 16, 2026, debut in French cinemas, paving the way for Avengers: Secret Wars in December 2027.
