Filmmaker Stéphane Brizé is making a compelling return to the big screen with A Good Little Soldier, his 11th fiction feature. The film is slated for a prestigious world premiere at the Venice Film Festival this week, before heading across the Atlantic for its North American debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. Fans can now get a first look with the recently revealed trailer.

Brizé, known for his incisive examinations of the professional world in acclaimed dramas such as The Measure of a Man, At War, and Another World, continues this thematic journey. A Good Little Soldier promises a deep dive into the pressures faced within contemporary corporate environments.

At the heart of the story is Carlotta, portrayed by the formidable Alba Rohrwacher. Carlotta is depicted as a dedicated, high-performing HR manager whose professional and personal life is pushed to its limits when she confronts a deeply entrenched case of toxic management.

Joining Rohrwacher is Vincent Lindon, marking his sixth collaboration with Brizé. Lindon, who earned the Best Actor award at Cannes for his powerful performance in Brizé’s The Measure of a Man, steps into the role of the corporation’s demanding CEO.

The narrative intensifies as the CEO initiates a mission to enhance employee well-being, all while simultaneously upholding stringent performance targets. This creates an unavoidable clash of priorities, forcing Carlotta into compromises that threaten to push her to her breaking point.

International sales for A Good Little Soldier are being handled by Gaumont, which has already announced a wave of deals in anticipation of its Venice premiere, with further territories currently under negotiation.

The film is a Gaumont production, with Sidonie Dumas leading the production, and co-produced by France 3 Cinéma, with additional support from Canal+. French audiences can look forward to A Good Little Soldier's theatrical release on November 25, distributed by Gaumont.
