Sony/Marvel Studios' blockbuster, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, continues its phenomenal run, with an estimated four-day Labor Day weekend haul of around $21 million. This strong performance means that by the end of Monday, the film will be less than $16 million away from surpassing Star Wars: Force Awakens' domestic record of $936.6 million, positioning it to become the highest-grossing movie ever in the U.S. Its running cume is projected to hit $921 million by the close of the holiday weekend.

Such staggering numbers are a clear indicator of repeat viewings, with audiences flocking to see the film multiple times. The Destin Daniel Cretton-directed movie has already achieved the remarkable feat of being the fastest film to cross the $900 million mark, doing so in just 36 days. It's only the second movie ever to reach this milestone, following Force Awakens a decade ago. Currently, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is playing in 3,520 theaters, expecting to pull in $3.7 million today and a sixth three-day total of $16.7 million, representing a modest 26% drop. The film also continues to benefit from premium large format (PLF) screens, further boosting its appeal.

Adding a touch of box office trivia, director Destin Daniel Cretton holds another impressive record: the best-ever Labor Day opening, achieved with Disney/Marvel Studios' Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings which debuted with $94.6 million back in 2021.
