The Singapore International Film Festival, running from October 21 to November 1, has announced that it will honor acclaimed Indian actor, director, and producer Aamir Khan with its Screen Icon Award. This significant recognition celebrates Khan's profound contributions to cinema over the decades, establishing him as a global figure in filmmaking.

As part of the tribute, the festival will host a special 25th-anniversary presentation of Khan's iconic film, "Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India." Joining Khan for this momentous occasion will be the film's director, Ashutosh Gowariker, allowing audiences to revisit the epic sports drama that garnered international acclaim and an Academy Award nomination.

Marking the official commencement of the festival, the opening night will feature the highly anticipated South Korean thriller, "The Assassin(s)." Directed by Hur Jin-ho, the film boasts a stellar cast including Yoo Hae-jin, Park Hae-il, and Lee Min-ho. Director Hur Jin-ho is expected to attend the opening ceremony, accompanied by key supporting cast members Shim Eun-kyung and Park Sung-hoon, adding a touch of international star power to the festival's launch.
