Fans of creature features can mark their calendars for July 16, 2027, as that's when 'Crawl 2' is set to unleash its reptilian terror on the big screen. The sequel brings back director Alexandre Aja, who helmed the surprising 2019 hit 'Crawl.' That original film, which pitted a young woman and her father against alligators during a hurricane-induced flood, clawed its way to nearly $92 million globally, proving that a well-executed B-movie premise can still resonate with audiences.

For 'Crawl 2,' the new survival story against aggressive alligators will feature Mason Gooding and Emily Rudd in leading roles. Aja also returns as a producer alongside Craig Flores and horror icon Sam Raimi. Gregory Levasseur, Kevan Van Thompson, and Zainab Azizi are on board as executive producers. The film will face stiff competition in its opening week, going head-to-head with Sony’s 'Fake Skating,' and arriving just a week after Warner Bros./DC's 'Superman' sequel, 'Man of Tomorrow,' aims to dominate the box office.

Meanwhile, the horror landscape in 2028 will see a slight alteration with 'Heart Eyes 2' moving its release date. Originally slated for February 11, 2028, the Spyglass co-production will now debut a week earlier, on February 4, 2028. This shift strategically moves the film away from a previously scheduled Disney event film, placing it instead against Universal’s 'Murder, She Wrote.'

'Heart Eyes 2' is directed by Josh Ruben, who also co-wrote the script with Darcy Fowler. The story originates from Christopher Landon and Michael Kennedy, with Landon producing alongside Divide/Conquer. While specific plot details remain under wraps, the earlier release date suggests confidence from Paramount in the sequel's ability to capture early 2028 audiences.
