Director Alexandre Aja, who masterfully helmed the original, returns to steer the as-yet-untitled sequel, which is currently slated for a theatrical release on July 16, 2027. Aja is also credited as a co-writer on the script, collaborating with Jason Harry Pagan, Andrew Deutschman, and Gregory Levasseur.

Joining Niles and Panthaki are several other compelling actors, including genre veteran Richard Brake, known for his chilling performances in films like Barbarian and his role in Game of Thrones. Charley Palmer Rothwell, recognized for his work in Dunkirk and Industry, and the charismatic Flula Borg, who has appeared in The Suicide Squad and the Pitch Perfect franchise, also round out the new cast. This group will share the screen with previously announced leads Mason Gooding and Emily Rudd.

The original Crawl proved to be a sleeper hit for Paramount in 2019, raking in over $91 million globally against a modest budget. The film captivated audiences with its intense premise: a young woman (Kaya Scodelario) and her father (Barry Pepper) battling a horde of aggressive alligators in their hurricane-flooded Florida home. Critics, including John DeFore of The Hollywood Reporter, praised the film's relentless tension, noting that "thrillseekers should appreciate the brisk pace with which scares, setbacks and possible escapes are delivered."

Sarah Niles brings her considerable dramatic prowess to the project, fresh off two Emmy Award nominations for her role in Apple TV+'s beloved comedy Ted Lasso. Her recent film credits also include Fantastic Four: The First Steps and Heads of State. Ray Panthaki, known for his work in the Starz series The Serpent Queen and the acclaimed film Boiling Point, adds further depth to the ensemble.

The production team for the sequel features Craig Flores, Sam Raimi, and Alexandre Aja as producers, with Gregory Levasseur, Kevan Van Thompson, and Zainab Azizi serving as executive producers. With its expanding cast and a proven creative team, the Crawl sequel is gearing up to deliver another thrilling dive into high-stakes aquatic terror.
