At the helm will be Mike P. Nelson, a filmmaker whose recent work, including the upcoming horror pic Beware Boiúna, has positioned him as a notable voice in contemporary horror.

Nelson is not new to the genre, having directed a revamp of Silent Night, Deadly Night, Wrong Turn, and a segment of V/H/S 85. His latest feature, Beware Boiúna, an action-horror thriller centered on an Amazonian predator, is set to hit theaters on October 2nd, following its premieres at Fantastic Fest and Beyond Fest. Lionsgate Motion Picture Chair Adam Fogelson expressed confidence in Nelson's vision, stating, "It speaks volumes that James Wan is passionate about returning to this franchise, and his belief in Mike evokes his own breakthrough with the original Saw."

The script for the new 'Saw' film comes from Gregory Weidman and Geoff Tock, known for their work on Below and Dune: Prophecy. James Wan, who directed and co-wrote the original 2004 Saw film, emphasized the importance of finding the right director to honor the franchise's world.
