The new 'NCIS' installment, as reported by Deadline, sees Sam Hanna, fresh from years of special assignments, returning to his hometown of New York City. His new chapter begins with a deeply personal case: investigating the death of his friend and Navy reservist, Jack Halloway. This prompts him to seek permission from Assistant Special Agent-In-Charge Robyn Wells, played by Jennifer Beals, to lead the investigation.

The trailer introduces the core team that will work alongside Hanna in New York. Aside from Wells, the team includes Nick Schaeffer, portrayed by Scott Caan, who is seen being introduced to Hanna by Wells. The ensemble is rounded out by a diverse group of agents, each with unique backgrounds and motivations.

Showrunner and executive producer Byron Belasco, who developed the series with R. Scott Gemmill, offered insights into the new characters. Wyatt Sellers, played by Shane Harper, is described as a "good old boy from Alaska" whose life plans were derailed by a breakup. Belasco notes, "He’s a great agent. He’s really tough and just a good, solid, loyal guy," as Wyatt navigates his unexpected journey in New York.

Addy Ross, portrayed by Jacqueline Byers, comes from a long line of military officers. Her upbringing, marked by having to "fight her way to just get a slice" of pizza among three older brothers, has shaped her into a "very aggressive, very strong, very strong willed" agent who is fiercely loyal to her team and cases. She also carries personal emotional baggage related to her father.

Then there's Sean Sullivan, the team's hacker-turned-computer specialist, played by Devin Druid. Sean is initially resistant to his role, working off a penalty for a past crime. Belasco explains that Wells and the team are determined to "bring Sean into the light to show him that being part of a team and being part of something that matters really makes a difference." A special relationship between Sean and Robyn is hinted at, suggesting a deeper personal connection.

These new faces, combined with the seasoned presence of Sam Hanna, promise a compelling new dynamic for the 'NCIS' franchise as they tackle crimes in the bustling metropolis. The series is poised to deliver a blend of intricate investigations and character-driven storytelling.
