Her seemingly perfect marriage to Emperor Sovieshu (Ju Ji-hoon) spirals into disarray with the arrival of Rashta (Lee Se-young), a runaway slave who captures the Emperor's affections. As loyalties within the court shift, Navier finds herself increasingly drawn to Crown Prince Heinrey (Lee Jong-suk), the heir to the rival Western Kingdom.

The Remarried Empress is a high-budget adaptation of the immensely popular Naver Webtoon of the same name, which has garnered nearly 3 billion views worldwide. The production scale is evident, with filming taking place across various European locations and elaborate purpose-built palace sets, positioning it as one of Disney+'s most significant international projects to date.
Helming the series is director Cho Su-won, known for his work on hit K-dramas such as I Can Hear Your Voice, Pinocchio, and Still 17. The scripts were penned by Yeoh Geena and Hyun Choong-yeol, promising a narrative rich in emotional depth and political machination.
Audiences won't have to wait long to dive into the royal intrigue. The Remarried Empress will debut with its first four episodes on November 4 on both Disney+ and Hulu, with two new installments released each Wednesday through November 25. Before its streaming premiere, the series will also make its world debut at the prestigious Busan International Film Festival in October, where three episodes, with a combined runtime of 151 minutes, will be screened as part of the festival's On Screen section.
